The Problem

  • A new entrant EV charging system developer was undergoing a change at a senior level in their technical team alongside a number of other technical challenges with their prototype product.

  • The development and test schedule for the project was aligned to a number of key objectives that exposed the client to high levels of technical and commercial risk and were unachievable with the budget available.

Our Research / approach?

  • We worked with the client to understand the complexities of the technical challenges that existed.

  • We brought in additional technical resources from our extended network to address the technical problems that were evident

  • We worked with the client to refactor their test and evaluation work into a number of simpler prototyping exercises aimed specifically at reducing risk before large scale investments needed to be made in tooling or certification testing.

System Design

  • We worked with the client to break down the technical challenges into manageable steps, reusing IP and equipment already developed within the clients wider business

  • We identified test houses and test approaches to allow the client to progress through technical milestones to the point that they were able to field test hardware internally and then externally with their end customers.

Engineering & IP

  • We worked closely with the client and all IP generated was transferred to the client for their ongoing use.

Outcome

  • The client was able to turn their project around at minimal cost such that they were able to test their project with end users and customers in the field.

  • The client has a clear route map to complete their design and development work to allow the manufacturing to proceed at scale.
