Marine Safety System Technical Turnaround
The Problem
A marine safety system company was undergoing a transition of senior technical staff leading to the loss of configuration control of a key product range where the configuration of software and hardware was poorly documented, component stock levels were unknown and the status of systems shipped to customers was in doubt.
Our Research / approach?
We worked closely with the executive team to bring rigor to the configuration control of the product at all levels including software, hardware and bill of materials.
We developed improved product packaging and installation guides for the system in line with the companies desire to improve the system being delivered to end customers
All changes were completed while maintaining the customers operations using our offices as a logistics and kitting location.
We developed and commissioned a range of kitting tools, test benches and field test equipment and completed a number of test campaigns and training demonstrations for the customers in house team.
System Design
We used solid engineering and configuration control principles to bring the project under control alongside product development work from first principles to deliver a much improved system to end users
Engineering & IP
We worked closely with the client and all IP generated was transferred to the client for their ongoing use.
Field Trials
We organised a number of testing campaigns to support development alongside some demonstrations to other members of the project team.
Outcome
We successfully turned around the product range for the customer and ultimately the business was sold to another marine safety business.
